Dairy Road Enterprises – Expressions of Interest

Dairy Road Proposal

In 2014 Canberra City Farm put forward a proposal to the ACT Government requesting a 10 year licence for a site in Dairy Road, Fyshwick. On this site Canberra City Farm proposed to include:

  • Sustainable Building Display.
  • Education opportunities.
  • Small Animals.
  • Events.
  • Business.
  • Tours.
  • Renewable Energy.

What’s been happening at the Dairy Road Education Centre:


May 2017 – Regular monthly gathering

On Sunday 21 May 2017, the Canberra City Farm held it’s regular gathering and did a working bee that included creating the base for the pizza oven, paving the ramp to the display container, tending to the gardens and preparing the allotment beds with the tractor.

On Sunday 23 April 2017, the Canberra City Farm held it’s regular gathering and did a working bee that included preparing garden beds, laying some paving and locating the pizza oven.

January 2017 – Planning Session

On Tuesday 24 January 2017, the Canberra City Farm held a 2017 Planning Session to agree what we would like to achieve for 2017. A few great ideas and plans that came from the session were: create ‘The Hub’ with a pizza oven, have an open day in Spring, get a Community Support Agriculture initiative kicked off, and much more.

January 2017 – Regular monthly gathering

On Sunday 22 January 2017, the Canberra City Farm held it’s regular gathering, did a working bee that did a range of activities, including putting signs out at Dairy Road – the start of our walking tours.

On Sunday 17 October 2016, the Canberra City Farm held it’s regular gathering, did a working bee that moved more of the items from the Turner Garden to Dairy Road and heard from the SEE-Change Woden group about their proposed upgrades to the garage house structure.

February 2016 – Enterprise Briefing

On Sunday 28 February 2016, the Canberra City Farm held an Enterprise Briefing session at the 2 Dairy Road site in Fyshwick.

At this 3 hour briefing session we provided an overview of the Canberra City Farm proposal to establish Enterprises, we introduced the proposed Canberra City Farm Dairy Road enterprise entrepreneurs to each other and their enterprise concepts, we explored the Canberra City Farm operating principles and constraints, we toured the site, we outlined the next steps, agreement and start dates, and we answered any questions from enterprise entrepreneurs.

November 2015 – Tour and Workshop

On Sunday 22 November 2015, the Canberra City Farm held a tour and workshop at the 2 Dairy Road site in Fyshwick.

The day started with a tour, we enjoyed a lovely shared lunch together and then Canberra City Farm financial members were invited to stay to discuss in detail the draft Business Plan and Master Plan for the site.

The workshop was extremely beneficial for all involved, with wonderful ideas for the site being explored.
